Sketchus Drawing Process
The Sketchus drawing process
Your artist starts with the reference, considers the face, glance, light and posture, then develops the lines, proportions, shadows and details by hand.
See the artwork take shape
The existing video shows a real Sketchus portrait being drawn by hand, step by step.
How your portrait is created
Why hand-created artwork takes time
An artist decides which lines, shadows and details matter to the subject. This is useful for family portraits, memorials and personal gifts where the reference carries a story.

Your photo and wishes guide those decisions, including the expression and arrangement you want to keep.
Free preview before shipping
Every new custom portrait order includes a free preview by email after the artwork is finished and before shipping. Changes within your order scope are included.
Have your photo checked for free before ordering if you need advice about the reference.
Drawing process questions
Is my portrait really created by hand?
Yes. A real Sketchus artist draws or paints the artwork from your photo. An Art Print reproduces that work; choose an available Original finish for the physical artwork itself.
Can I have my photo checked before ordering?
Yes. The check is free and can help you understand whether the useful details in your reference are enough.
Why does production take time?
An artist works through the reference, lines, proportions, shadows and details to create the portrait by hand.
